Randolph Delehanty, Ph.D. was born in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1944 in an English- and Spanish-speaking family, and raised in Englewood and Tenafly, New Jersey. He studied history at Georgetown University, the University of Chicago and Harvard University where he earned his doctorate. In 1970, he moved to Berkeley and then to San Francisco. He has written more than a dozen books on cities, historical landscapes, architecture and art and has also curated museum exhibits on history, science, and art. Today he lives in Faubourg Marigny in New Orleans and is completing a reflective book on Italy's regions, cities, and culture.
